Research Emphasis:The host immune system does not respond to food antigens that are recognized as foreign antigens by the immune system although the host immune system usually mounts strong immune responses to foreign antigens to eradicate them. This hyporesponsive immunity to food antigens has been studied in the context of oral tolerance. However, despite the importance of CD4+ T cells in oral tolerance, many aspects of T cell immunity to ingested food antigens are still unclear. I am studying CD4 T cell responses to food antigens in an antigen-specific manner with peptide-MHCII tetramers to overcome limitations of previous studies. This will provide critical clues to understand the pathogenesis of food allergy. List of publications
