Research Emphasis: Focused on improving our understanding of how CD8 T cells contribute to protection against viral infections such as HIV in the female reproductive tract. I employ a combination of mouse and rhesus macaque models to test how CD8 tissue-resident memory T cells survey non-lymphoid tissue, and respond by coordinating the activation of the innate, humoral and cellular arms of immunity.
